Paper and pulp

The paper factory is located in Yaeni, which is located 348 km north of Yangon and 20 km south of Napyidaw. The city is situated in the northern end of the Bago division, and the Mandalay region ensues from there.

The factory manufactures cardboard and packing paper including cement wrapping paper. The estimated full capacity of the plant is expected to produce 5,500 tons of cardboard and 25,000 tons of packing paper per annum.

At present, there are approximately 1,000 workers in the plant.

Raw materials used by the plant are mainly bamboo and eucalyptus which are sourced from the neighbouring area, which has been granted to the factory for its use.

Power generation

The power plant is located in Yaeni, which is located 348 km north of Yangon and 20 km south of Napyidaw. The city is situated in the northern end of the Bago division, and the Mandalay region ensues from there.

The power plant is powered by natural gas from the Shwe gas-fields. Our Group has secured a long-term use of gas which allows the construction of a power plant producing up to 40 Megawatts per hour.

While the plans for the permanent power plant are being laid, we have leased short-term generator sets capable of producing up to 22 Megawatts per hour as an interim measure.

Real estate development

Viewing the real estate development business as a key cornerstone of the Group’s future strategic growth, the Group has decided to go-to-market with a new branding under Golden Glory Group for its real estate-related operations.

Headquartered in Singapore, Golden Glory Group Pte Ltd’s principal business activity is to develop a full range of real estate developments in Myanmar, including but not limited to, integrated developments, residences, commercial offices, retail shopping spaces, hotels, services apartments, and industrial parks.

Garment makers hope US sanctions ease

After a disastrous year battling a weak US dollar exchange rate, garment makers are gearing up to boost production in the hopes that Western sanctions will ease, industry figures said last week.

The renewed hope follows the early December visit to Myanmar by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“I’m sure that this is the start of a good period for the industry because I think the government will do everything it can do to boost the sector since it employs so many people,” said U Khin Maung Aye, managing director of Lat War Company in Hlaing Tharyar Industrial Zone, which runs two factories and manages two more.
